SCO RATS Takes Part in the OSCE Regional Conference

Delegation of the SCO RATS Executive Committee headed by the Deputy Director Mr. Liu Tse in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan took part in the OSCE high-level regional conference on countering terrorist financing and organized crime held by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, the OSCE Transnational Threats Department (TNTD) and the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA), in co-operation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Finance and Economy Ministry of Turkmenistan on April 17-18, 2019.

The conference was aimed at discussing security issues and exploring potential links with organized crime through discussions and exchange of good practices related to countering terrorist financing and misuse of new internet technologies by organized crime. About 200 representatives from 21 states and organizations (UN, SCO, CIS, EU and Interpol) took part in the conference.

Deputy Director Mr. Liu Tse delivered a report to brief the participants about the experience of the SCO RATS in the field of countering terrorism. He stressed the need to build up preventive measures to prevent terrorism and consolidate international efforts in the fight against terrorism as one of the key factors ensuring security and stability.

Mr. Liu Tse met with Mr. Jehangir Khan, Executive Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office, at the sidelines of the conference. The sides exchanged views on the formalization of relations and ways to improve international cooperation in the field of terrorism countering.
