Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS Liu Jie took part in the fifth Lianyungang Forum online
From December 9 to 10, 2020, at the invitation of the Chinese side and on the instructions of Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS D.F. Ghiyosov, Deputy Director Liu Jie participated online in the fifth Lianyungang Forum (Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China).
The forum was organized by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China, Deputy Minister of Public Security Du Hangwei gave the inaugural speech to welcome the participants of the event. Representatives from law enforcement agencies of 30 states - China, Russia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, UAE, Italy, Spain etcetera, and heads of three international organizations - Interpol, the SCO RATS and the Lancangjiang-Mekong Center for Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation participated in the online event.
The forum discussed issues on the topic "The security environment and approaches to international law enforcement cooperation during the pandemic”. An exchange of views took place on maintaining public order during the pandemic, on combating crime, on new types and methods of committing crimes that appeared during the pandemic and on combating terrorism and fraud in telecommunications networks. Participants also discussed issues on building the capacity of law enforcement agencies of countries in the context of the pandemic.
Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS Liu Jie made a presentation to the forum, during which he gave an analysis of the security situation in the SCO region and the developing trends in international terrorism, and also spoke about the main achievements of the efforts of SCO RATS and the competent authorities of the SCO member states in the field of ensuring security. He also put forward concrete proposals for strengthening international cooperation in countering the menace of terrorism in the context of a global pandemic.
The event was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, the participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers of the event - the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China for its good preparation and fine conduct of the event.
The Lianyungang Forum (also known as the "Forum for International Law Enforcement Cooperation on the Safe Corridor of the New Asia-Europe Continental Bridge") was reportedly founded in 2015 and is held once a year. It is a professional cooperation platform aimed at providing exchange of experience for law enforcement agencies of countries along the Belt and Road.
