On the meeting with European Union Special Representative for Central Asia
On 23 May 2024, the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation hosted a meeting between Director of the EC RATS SCO Ruslan Mirzaev and Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Tehri Hakala.
During the meeting they discussed current security threats in the SCO area, the problem of foreign terrorist fighters from Central Asia in Afghanistan, and the relationship between regional conflicts and the phenomenon of foreign terrorist fighters.
The parties separately considered in detail high-profile terrorist attacks and the problem of the spread of radical ideology among migrant workers.
Following the meeting, the sides noted the positive dynamics of the regularity of their meetings and agreed to continue the practice of periodic exchanges of views on topical security issues.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and partnership.
