Executive Committee of the SCO RATS takes part in AALCO conference

A delegation of the SCO RATS Executive Committee took part in the conference of the Asian-African Legal Advisory Organization (AALCO) on the topic: “Preventing and combating terrorism: Asian-African vision”, which took place from July 3 to 4, 2024, in Tehran (IRI).
The conference was attended by AALCO management, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, experts in the field of counter-terrorism and representatives of other Gulf countries.

The conference participants' reports covered various aspects of terrorism countering, which has become a major issue for the Gulf countries over the past 20 years. The importance of stepping up joint efforts to eradicate terrorism and terrorist groups in AALCO's region of responsibility was emphasized.
Deputy Director of the SCO RATS Mr. Anjum Navid in his address spoke about the history of the establishment of the SCO RATS, the main goal of which at the initial stage and to this day is to fight the forces of “three evils”.

It was also noted that the RATS, as a specialized permanent body of the SCO, has extensive experience in combating terrorism, separatism and extremism. Continuous interaction is carried out between the competent authorities of the member states in the format of the Organization, with permanent expert groups of the SCO member states created and put into operation for this purpose. Besides, an annual conference and practical anti-terrorism events are held.

The conference was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and partnership.
