Meeting with the Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
A meeting was held between the Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Ularbek Sharsheev and the Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov on January 23, 2025,
During the meeting, which was held in a constructive atmosphere, the parties noted the expansion of the geographical coverage of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which indicates a growing increase in its role and authority in the international arena. The key importance of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, which is one of the most effective tools for integration interaction, in the system of ensuring peace and stability in the SCO space was pointed out. They specifically emphasized the importance of promoting Uzbekistan's initiative to create an "interactive map of the situation in the field of countering terrorism, separatism and extremism."
The priorities of the SCO's activities in modern conditions were also identified, taking into account new challenges and threats to the security of the SCO member states. In this context, the partied noted the need for a responsible approach to creating a Universal Centre for Countering Challenges and Threats to the Security of SCO Member States in Tashkent, on the basis of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, including the optimal use of existing forces and resources.
