Delegation of the Executive Committee participated in consultations of SCO member states
A delegation of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, headed by Deputy Director Umid Tashkuziev, took part in consultations of the SCO member states held in Moscow on April 3, 2025.
During the discussion of the topic ‘Deepening foreign policy coordination to further strengthen the international positions of the SCO, ensuring stability and security in the region’, Umid Tashkuziev stated that terrorism, separatism and extremism were still relevant as serious threats and challenges to the global community and the SCO region. He noted that in these conditions the SCO RATS Executive Committee was constantly working to strengthen cooperation between the competent bodies of the SCO countries to counteract the ‘forces of three evils’. A separate Programme of Cooperation of the SCO countries in countering extremist ideology in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation for 2026-2030 approved by the RATS Council will be submitted for consideration at the forthcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of State.
During the discussion of the topic ‘Comprehensive modernization of SCO activities: improving mechanisms for countering security challenges and threats, reformatting interaction with the SCO dialogue partners and observers to the SCO, increasing the effectiveness of the SCO standing (executive) bodies’, Umid Tashkuziev stressed that Universal Centre for Countering Security Challenges and Threats of the SCO countries, which is being established on the basis of RATS, will need to retain the status of an independent standing body within the Organization, and the planned expansion of its functions will enable the law enforcement agencies and special services of the SCO states to address a wider range of practical security related tasks.
The consultations were held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and constructive dialogue.
