A meeting of specialised agencies dedicated to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540, entitled “Maps and Mapping: Implementation of Resolution 1540,” was held on October 30-31, 2025, at the UN Headquarters in New York.

At the invitation of the Security Council's 1540 Support Unit of the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, a delegation from the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO), headed by the Director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee Ularbek Sharsheev, took place in the meeting.

Conference participants noted the importance of building constructive dialogue between international organizations, governments, civil society organizations, and academia in order to take effective measures to prevent the proliferation of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.

The delegation of the Executive Committee of SCO RATS highly appreciated the level of organization of the event and expressed its commitment to further interaction with the scientific and expert community for joint analysis of trends affecting the security of the states in the region.

It was also emphasized that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is firmly committed to implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1540 and maintaining global peace, security, and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
