Meeting with university students held at the SCO RATS Executive Committee
The Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) hosted a meeting between students from several higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and the leadership of the SCO RATS Executive Committee on February 9, 2026. The event was initiated by the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan.
The meeting was arranged to familiarize young people with the activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as the key focus areas of its specialized bodies ensuring regional security and countering current challenges and threats.
During the meeting, the leadership of the SCO RATS Executive Committee provided students with detailed information on the history of the organisation, its objectives, functions, and practical activities. Special attention was paid to the role of the Executive Committee in coordinating cooperation between the competent authorities of the SCO Member States while countering terrorism, separatism, and extremism, with an emphasis on the issue of youth radicalization.
The students showed a keen interest in the meeting’s topics, asking questions about cooperation mechanisms within the SCO, as well as the prospects for developing youth and humanitarian initiatives across the Organization's space.
At the conclusion of the event, participants were given a guided tour of the buildings and grounds of the SCO RATS Executive Committee, so that they could see the working conditions and infrastructure of the Executive Committee firsthand.
It was noted that such meetings contribute to strengthening mutual understanding between the youth and international structures of the SCO, foster public diplomacy and form an unbiased view of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s activities.
