Delegation of the SCO RATS Executive Committee took part in the 18th meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the SCO member states

The delegation of the SCO RATS Executive Committee took part in the 18th meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the SCO member states, chaired by the Indian side, on March 29, 2023, in New Delhi.

 

The agenda of the meeting included issues related to ensuring security and stability in the SCO space and cooperation between member states in countering terrorism, extremism, separatism, terrorist financing, the use of modern technologies for terrorist purposes, radicalization, illegal arms and drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.

 

During the meeting, the issues of further cooperation between the SCO member states in the areas of ensuring international information security and biomedical security were considered in detail. Emphasis was given to specific measures to jointly counter transnational organized crime, terrorism and the revival of neo-Nazism.

 

The participants also exchanged views on relevant issues related to the international situation and discussed possible approaches to further improvement of interaction between member states in the field of security and stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.

 

The Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS Ruslan Mirzaev stressed in his address that the issues of ensuring the security of the SCO member states are directly related to the building of an effective system of integrated border management around Afghanistan and emphasized the relevance of initiatives to improve the SCO.

 

The parties stressed their commitment to the principles of equal and indivisible security and respect for the basic norms of international law.
