Executive Committee of the SCO RATS took part in the workshop on the topic: “The role of mechanisms for combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism in building regional security in the space of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization”

A seminar was held on the topic: “The role of mechanisms for combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism in building regional security in the space of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization”  at the initiative of Rosfinmonitoring from April 11 to April 12, 2023 in Moscow.

The event was attended by representatives of a number of SCO member states, the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the SCO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia, the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG), the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units (FIU) of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the International Educational and Methodological Center for Financial Monitoring, and scientific research organizations.

Participants discussed issues related to global trends in the field of combating money laundering and financing of terrorism, methods for detecting and proving crimes in this area, the role of crypto assets and other relevant issues. In addition, they considered prospects for expanding international cooperation in the field of combating terrorism financing.
