Director of the SCO RATS executive committee visits the islamic republic of Pakistan

Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS Ruslan Mirzaev paid a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan from August 9-12, 2022.

During the visit, he met with the senior officers of the competent authorities and relevant departments of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, including Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, member of the SCO RATS Council Aisha Farooqi and the Pakistani National Coordinator for Combating Terrorism Muhammad Tahir Rai.

In the course of the meetings, the parties exchanged views on the current security situation in the region, current and emerging security challenges and threats, and measures to counter them.

The parties discussed potential measures to effectively combat terrorism, separatism and extremism in the SCO space through strengthening interaction and cooperation between the SCO member states, in particular, in the border management area. They also emphasized the importance of countermeasures with the help of religious leaders against the dissemination of extremist narratives.

The meetings were held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperaion.
