Delegation of the SCO RATS Executive Committee participates in the international conference on countering spread of extremist narratives

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs held the Third International Conference on the issue of the spreading of extremist ideology from September 25-28, 2023. The event was held at the World Trade Center venue in Moscow. The delegation of the SCO RATS Executive Committee consisted of Deputy Director Naveed Anjumas and experts Kozhukhov, Poletaev and Bondarenko.

 

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Police Colonel General Andrei Khrapov, Head of the Main Directorate for Countering Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Police Lieutenant General Oleg Ilyinykh, Head of the Interpol National Central Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Police Major General Valery Kalachev, experts from the Office of the President of the Russian Federation on public projects, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, RosKomNadzor, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee of the Russian Federation, staff members of educational organizations, guests from more than 40 foreign countries, including representatives of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS Member States, and the Office for the Coordination of the Fight Against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crime on the Territory of CIS member-states. The conference organizers succeeded in gathering representatives of different regions and continents from Central Asia to Latin America in one conference hall.

 

The head of the delegation of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS Anjum Naveed made a presentation on the topic: “The experience of SCO member countries in countering extremism,” speaking about the existing legal framework of the SCO and the main areas of countering the extremism which is an important security threat.

 

The conference participants expressed concern about the growing misuse of modern information and communication technologies to disseminate the extremism narratives among the general public and noted the particular danger of attempts at reviving the ideology of Nazism and glorification of its followers and outlined their commitment to prevent the politicization of international police cooperation, including within the framework of Interpol.

 

The event took place in the atmosphere of goodwill and constructive dialogue; participants noted that the Conference was organized extremely well.
