Meeting held with the UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team

On November 9, 2023, the delegation of the SCO RATS Executive Committee headed by Director Ruslan Mirzaev met with the UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Group, headed by Group Coordinator Justin Hustwitt in Tashkent.

 

Prior to this meeting, the UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Group took an active part in the work of the 9th International Scientific and Practical Conference of the SCO RATS on November 7-8, 2023.

 

During the bilateral meeting, the parties exchanged an assessment of the threats posed by the Al-Qaida and ISIS (Da’esh) foreign terrorist organizations, as well as groups associated with them, both around the world and in Afghanistan, in order to identify the operational capacity of these groups and the methods and approaches they use.

 

An exchange of views took place on the dynamics of the unfolding of the security situation in Afghanistan, terrorist groups on its territory, their connections, movements, structure and locations.

 

According to the Group Coordinator Justin Hustwitt, the SCO RATS assessments will be taken into account when preparing the 33rd Report on to the Security Council resolution 2610 (2021) concerning Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Da’esh), Al-Qaida and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities for the Sanctions Committee pursuant to the UN Security Council resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015).

The meeting was held in the spirit of partnership and constructive dialogue.
