Executive Committee of SCO RATS meets with the delegation of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan

A meeting was held between the delegation of the Executive Committee of SCO RATS headed by Director Ruslan Mirzaev and the delegation of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan headed by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General Roza Otunbayeva on November 17, 2023.

During the meeting, Roza Otunbaeva raised issues of relations with the de facto Taliban government, the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, as well as the situation of women in Afghanistan.

The parties exchanged views on security issues, including foreign terrorist fighters and ISKP, as well as border issues, in particular regarding Afghan citizens crossing state borders.

Other issues of cooperation between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and UN structures in the field of regional security were also considered.

The meeting took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.
