Joint anti-terrorism exercise to prevent the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes held in New Delhi

The competent authorities of the SCO member states, with the support of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, held a joint anti-terrorist exercise of the competent authorities of the SCO member states to identify and suppress the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes on December 15, 2023, in New Delhi. The joint anti-terrorism exercise was arranged by the Republic of India.

 

The objectives of the exercise were:

 

- improving the mechanisms of interaction between the competent authorities of the SCO member states serving to identify and suppress the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes;

 

- for the competent authorities of the SCO member states to exchange success stories of collecting digital evidence;

 

- for the competent authorities of the SCO member states to exchange success stories of countering the use of digital assets for the purpose of financing terrorist, separatist and extremist activities;

 

- improving the interaction between the competent authorities of the SCO member states in countering cyber attacks by terrorist, separatist and extremist organizations against the critical information infrastructure of the SCO member states.

 

When commenting on the outcomes of the exercises, the heads of delegations noted that this event was an important step aimed at uniting efforts and strengthening the anti-terrorist capacity of the SCO.
