ON PARTICIPATION IN ACTIVITIES OF THE MISSION OF SCO OBSERVERS IN THE EARLY ELECTIONS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

The delegation of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS, comprising the Deputy Director Artur Golovanov and Desk Officer Chaudhari Brij Mohan Singh took part in the activities of the SCO Observer Mission at the extraordinary presidential elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by the SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming (hereinafter referred to as the Mission) from November 16 to November 21, 2022.

The SCO mission looked at how the early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan were prepared and carried out, including direct observation of the election campaign and voting at 22 polling stations in the city of Astana and the Akmola region.

Following the Mission, the SCO Secretary General held a briefing and highly appreciated the way these early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan were prepared and held, in accordance with the requirements of the electoral legislation of Kazakhstan and the country's international obligations. He specifically emphasized the transparency, credibility and democratic nature of the election campaign, the fact that the Kazakh authorities provided all necessary conditions for the international monitoring of the preparation and carrying out of the elections. The high level of the professional training of employees of precinct election commissions was also commended on.

The observer mission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization expressed its gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Election Commission and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan for their assistance to the SCO observer mission within its mandate.
