Terrorist attack at Indian market leaves at least 12 injured

At least 12 people were injured after unidentified terrorists lobbed a grenade at a market in Srinagar in the Northern Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, NDTV reported.

No extremist group operating in Indian-administered Kashmir has claimed responsibility for the attack. Local media reports suggest that the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group may be behind it. Two militants were killed in a security operation yesterday, including a powerful commander of the group known as Usman.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack, pointing to the rise in terrorist activity in the region and urged law enforcement to do their best to stop the extremists.
