At least seven people were killed in a terrorist attack on a passenger bus in southwestern Pakistan. This was reported by the Xinhua news agency, citing local police.

The attack took place on a highway in the Barkhan district of Balochistan province. Eleven militants stopped the intercity bus and opened fire on it, killing seven passengers inside.

According to the agency, the terrorists fled before law enforcement officers arrived. An anti-terrorist operation (ATO) is currently underway in the region.

It is also reported that the ATO is underway in the South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to the national Defense Ministry, security forces have eliminated about 30 terrorists there.
