Pakistan operation to free hostages after train hijacking completed

In Pakistan, security forces have rescued 155 hostages from a train that was hijacked by the Balochistan Liberation Army on March 11, Dawn reported, citing state-run Radio Pakistan and security sources. At least 27 militants were reportedly killed.

The number of hostage fatalities has not been disclosed.

The militants had promised to kill the hostages if Pakistani troops launched an operation against the Balochistan Liberation Army.

Balochistan has been home to groups advocating for secession from Pakistan for many years. They have repeatedly attacked government officials, military personnel and businesses.
