Terrorist attack in India: 11 dead, Maoists are suspected

Ten police officers and a driver were killed by an explosion of a device planted on their way in Dantewada district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.

The unit was sent to participate in a counter-terrorist raid against the Naxalites operating in the area, who are the main suspects in the attack.

Naxalites is a common name for a number of far-left ideological movements, predominantly Maoist ones, that wage guerrilla warfare against Indian law enforcement agencies.
