Five servicemen killed in clashes with militants in northern India

At least five Indian servicemen were killed and two others were seriously injured when terrorists attacked an army patrol in the northern Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the Press Trust of India news agency, fighting has been ongoing since Thursday in Poonch district.

According to the Indian Ministry of Defense, militants attacked vehicles carrying military personnel. An extremist organization linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

The sweeping operation will continue, a spokesman of the Ministry of Defense told reporters.
