A FOREIGNER IN OMSK SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN COLONEY FOR AIDING TERRORISM
The district military court in Omsk sentenced a citizen of one of the Central Asian states to 16 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony for undergoing training in order to carry out terrorist activities and promote terrorism. This was reported to TASS by the official representative of the FSB of Russia for Omsk region.
According to them, the convict came into contact with a Syria-based member of the Katiba Tawhid wal-Jihad terrorist organization, whose activities are banned in Russia. He studied the literature on the handling of explosives, expressed his intention to join the group and transferred the funds to the account used to finance it. The investigation found that the man planned to travel to Syria to participate in hostilities and terrorist activities. He was detained as a result of operational activities of FSB of Russia for Omsk region.
