Media: three people killed in a car bomb explosion in Syria

A car bomb was detonated on Tuesday in the Syrian city of Raqqa (440 km fr om Damascus), which is under the control of Kurdish forces from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) coalition. This was reported by the Iraqi news portal Basnews.

 

According to the news portal, the terrorist attack led to casualties. At least three SDF fighters were killed; there is no information on killed and wounded civilians.

 

Eyewitnesses reported that a car bomb was blown up in the Al-Tamween area near the headquarters of Kurdish units and a prison wh ere dangerous criminals from the terrorist group "Islamic State" (IS) are kept. A combat alert was declared in the ranks of the SDF in the city.

 

In June 2022, in Raqqa, IS militants tried to use an explosion to arrange the escape of a group of mercenary prisoners, but they failed to carry out their plan. SDF fighters promptly blocked the area around the penitentiary institution from all sides.
