Media: Security forces kill eight terrorists in north-west Pakistan

Pakistani security forces have eliminated at least eight militants in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, The News International newspaper reports.

 

The eliminated terrorists took part in attacks on Pakistani Customs Service officers on April 18 and 20 in the Dera Ismail Khan area. The attacks left eight customs officers dead and four others injured.

 

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Pakistan, since the beginning of 2024, at least 88 militants of terrorist groups have been eliminated in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Among them are extremists involved in the March 26 suicide attack on a bus carrying Chinese technical specialists on the Karakoram Highway. The attack resulted in the death of five Chinese citizens and a Pakistani driver.

 

According to the Pakistan Center for Security Studies, since January 1, terrorists have carried out 245 attacks in Pakistan, killing 281police officers and civilians and wounding 370 people more. During this period, the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounted for more than half of the victims of terrorist attacks, and the southwestern province of Balochistan accounted for 41% of those killed in terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
