Taliban leader orders establishment of special unit to fight ISIS

Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhundzada has ordered the establishment of a special unit in Afghanistan to fight the Islamic State (ISIS) and other groups, Afghanistan International reported.

According to the media, a special unit will be created from unemployed Taliban, who will be given modern weapons. Militants will conduct operations against ISIS based on intelligence received by the Taliban. The Afghan Ministry of Internal Affairs has demanded that provincial authorities prepare lists of unemployed Taliban. The publication notes that this initiative is explained by the concern of Taliban leaders about the possible joining of unemployed residents of the country to ISIS and other terrorist groups.
