Tajikistan and the United States agree to control the movement of terrorists

Prosecutor General of Tajikistan Rahmon Yusuf Ahmadzoda and US Ambassador to the country Manuel Micaller signed a Memorandum of Intent for Cooperation on the implementation of the Personal Information Comparison and Evaluation System (PISCES) to control the movement of terrorists. This was reported by the press service of the supervisory agency of the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the same meeting, issues related to the exchange of information were discussed: those pertaining to the threats to the security of both states, protection of the rights and interests of citizens, preventing and combating manifestations of violent extremism and terrorism, cybercrimes, and transnational organized crimes. The parties agreed to continue bilateral legal cooperation in various areas.

PISCES (Personal Information Comparison and Evaluation System) is a biometric-based border control database system developed by the United States under the Terrorism Interdiction Program (TIP) of the Department of State. The project was originally designed as a system to allow countries to improve their capability to develop watch lists to facilitate immigration controls.
