Two terrorists with suicide vests shot dead in Iraq

Two suspected terrorists were shot dead in western Iraq. One security officer was killed and another one wounded in the clash, the national news service said.

The attackers were tracked down south of the city of Rutba, located in the Syrian desert, in Anbar province. One of the suspects was wearing a suicide belt; it was not disclosed whether he managed to detonate it.

Al-Rutbah, with population under 30 thousand people, is considered the “most isolated city” of Iraq, as it is located far away from other populated areas, but at the same time has strategic importance, since the highway connecting Baghdad and Jordanian Amman passes through it.
