A resident of the Tver region sentenced to 9 years for attempting to finance terrorism

The court sentenced a resident of the Tver region to nine years in prison for attempting to finance a foreign terrorist organization banned in Russia, the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service for the region reported.

As the agency clarified, a local resident, a native of one of the Central Asian republics, was detained in one of the districts of the Tver region. He was attempting to transfer funds to finance the needs of a terrorist organization. The man was prosecuted under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 1.1 art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (Attempt to Facilitate Terrorist Activities Through Financing).
