The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan detains two foreigners suspected of promoting terrorism

In Almaty, National Security Committee officers detained two foreigners on suspicion of promoting terrorism, the press service of the National Security Committee reports.

 

“According to the investigation team, they used to live abroad for a long time and became involved in radical religious ideology,” the report says.

 

Foreigners came to Kazakhstan this year; they did not have permanent jobs.

 

Kazakh law enforcement agencies began an investigation under the article “Propaganda of terrorism, committed by a person using his official position, or by the leader of a public association, or using the media or telecommunications networks, or by a group of persons or a group of persons by prior conspiracy, including using funds received from foreign sources."

 

They face from seven to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
