MEETING OF SECRETARIES OF INDIA AND CENTRAL ASIA HELD IN NEW DELHI

The first meeting of national security advisers, secretaries of security councils of India and Central Asian countries, took place in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of India Ajit Doval. This is reported by WIONews.


The forum was attended by national security advisers, secretaries of the national security councils of India, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of India.


The meeting was the result of the agreement reached during the first India-Central Asia Summit on January 27, 2022, to hold regular meetings of the Secretaries of Security Councils to discuss regional security issues.

During the meeting, the participants strongly condemned all forms and manifestations of terrorism and stressed the need for joining efforts to combat this threat.


They also discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and its impact on security and stability in the region, reaffirming their strong support for a peaceful, stable and secure Afghanistan, emphasizing respect for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country.


The secretaries of the security councils also stressed that the territory of Afghanistan should not be used for sheltering, training, planning or financing any terrorist acts and discussed the need for joint action to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
