Shymkent resident promoted terrorism via Telegram

A man has been convicted of promoting terrorism, vera.kz reports with reference to the press service of the city court.

A resident of Shymkent was convicted of distributing materials containing terrorist propaganda under Article 256 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the case materials, the man registered an account on social media and posted materials from December 2023 to January 2024. These posts contained propaganda of terrorism, war, violent acts and ideas of sacrificing oneself for religious reasons.

The defendant's guilt was proven by the collected documents. The defendant pleaded guilty. The court took this into account, as well as his young age and the absence of aggravating circumstances, and sentenced him to 7 years in prison
