Shoigu: Terrorists from Syria and Iraq are transferred to Afghanistan
New militant training camps are opening in Afghanistan, with terrorists transferred from Syria and Iraq. This was stated by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, speaking at a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils.
“The situation in Afghanistan is deeply concerning... We are documenting the emergence of new militant training camps and the ongoing transfer of terrorists from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan. The likelihood of terrorism spillover beyond the country’s borders is increasing,” Shoigu said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
He also noted that effective measures are needed to stabilize the situation in the region, which is “hardly possible” without the full participation of the current Afghan authorities.
