The CSTO approves measures to counter international terrorism

A meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization under the chairmanship of the Kazakh side was held in Almaty.


The participants exchanged views on the situation in the CSTO area of ​​responsibility.


Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gizat Nurdauletov informed his colleagues about our country’s attitude towards current areas of CSTO activities, including within the framework of the priorities of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the Organization.


Particular attention was paid to practical measures to counter current challenges and threats, such as international terrorism, cybercrime, drug and weapons trafficking, and organized transnational crime.


The draft Decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council “On the Target Interstate Program of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border” was approved as an output of the meeting.


The meeting participants confirmed their focus on developing interaction within the CSTO and further strengthening the Organization.


The next meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils, given the chairmanship of of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the CSTO, will be held in Astana in November 2024, on the eve of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
