UN Security Council lifts travel ban on four Taliban leaders

On June 5, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), in accordance with resolution 1988 (2011), lifted travel ban on four Taliban leaders who serve the interim administration in Afghanistan, globalvillagespace.com reports. According to the UNSC brief notification, the lifting of travel ban has been approved for Abdul Kabir Mohammad Jan, “Deputy Prime Minister”; Abdul-Haq Wasiq, “Chief of Intelligence”; Noor Mohammad Saqib, “Minister for Hajj and Religious Affairs”; and Sirajuddin Jallaludin Haqqani, “Minister of Interior.” Restrictions have been lifted for their visit to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where they will perform the annual Muslim pilgrimage of Hajj, the notice said.
