Four recruiters for terrorist organizations detained in Kazakhstan

Four people suspected of promoting terrorism were detained in southern Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the National Security Committee (NSC) of the republic.

According to the information, the law enforcement detained promoters of the radical Islam narratives in the Turkestan region. All of them are citizens of Kazakhstan.

“According to preliminary data, one of the defendants lived abroad for a long time, where he was probably involved in radical religious ideology. During the searches, religious literature and other material evidence were seized,” the statement said.

A criminal case was opened under Article 256, parts 1 and 2, of the Criminal Code. Part 1 provides for liability for propaganda of terrorism, part 2 covers the same act, but with the use of official position or media / telecommunication networks, or if committed by the leader of a public association or in a group of persons, including with the use of funds from foreign sources.
