Eighteen people injured in explosion in northwestern Pakistan

A total of 18 people were injured in an explosion at a wedding ceremony in Kurram district of northwestern Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, police stated.

The incident occurred when unknown assailants threw hand grenades at the venue where a large number of people had gathered, the police added.

After the attack, the attackers fled the scene.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, with three of them in critical condition. Police have cordoned off the area and an investigation is underway.

So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
