The assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia is reclassified as a terrorist attack

Seven weeks after the assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, the crime was classified as a “terrorist attack.” Prosecutor General Maros Zilinka announced the decision to change the charges on Thursday, July 4.

The alleged attacker, who was detained at the scene, faces life imprisonment. In addition, public approval of this crime will be punishable by imprisonment.

The suspect has been informed that he is charged with a “very grave terrorist crime,” spokeswoman for the Slovak Prosecutor General’s Office Zuzana Drobova told AFP. He was initially charged with attempted murder.
