Three detainees were arrested for preparing a terrorist attack in Dagestan; the court chose to put them in custody for a period of two months, said the head of the press service of the Supreme Court of the Dagestan Republic Zarema Mamaeva.

According to the Supreme Court, these three men, born in 1980, 1990 and 1995, with other persons “united into an organized group to commit an explosion, arson and other actions in Dagestan to frighten the population and create the danger of death, causing significant property damage and in general, in order to destabilize the activities of the authorities of the Republic of Dagestan and the Russian Federation."

“The Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala considered the petitions of the investigative authorities to select a preventive measure in the form of detention with regards to Magomed Magomedov, Khalid Magomedov, Zaur Magomedov, accused of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph “a” 2 Article 205, Part 4 Article 222, Part 4 Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation <...> Having considered the materials, the court, by decision dated 04.07.2024, chose a preventive measure for the accused in the form of detention for a period of 2 months,” the agency's source said.

It was mentioned that the detainees purchased weapons and stored them at their places of residence in the village of Sergokala, Sergokalinsky district and in Makhachkala. Besides, the accused persons, according to investigators, manufactured a high-explosive fragmentation device that they planned to use for the terrorist attack.
