During the operational and searching activities, staff members of the department for countering extremism of the DP of the Turkestan region and the Department of National Security detained a suspect in distributing materials of an extremist nature, reports Total.kz.

It was established that a resident of the Sairam district, an adherent of religious extremism, was distributing videos of radical preachers and materials promoting terrorist narratives, including through social media,

During a search at the suspect’s, investigators found and seized about 300 religious books, a laptop and other material evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated. The suspect was placed in a temporary detention facility. Currently, investigative and operational measures are being carried out regarding this fact.

Appropriate forensic examinations have been appointed. An investigation is underway.
