The special services of Kyrgyzstan prevented an attempt to violently seize power. Kabar reported this today, citing the State Committee for National Security.

The national security forces thwarted the activities of a destructive group that was preparing to carry out a violent seizure of power and destabilize the social and political situation in the country by organizing mass riots involving murdering of citizens.

According to the investigation, the five citizens detained in this case “supported the ideology of criminals and fanatically professed religious ideology.”

During searches at the places of residence and in the cars of the detainees, components for improvised explosive devices, firearms, ammunition, body armor, law enforcement uniforms, drones and extremist literature were found. The investigation is ongoing.
