A terrorist attack on an Orthodox church prevented in Maykop
A terrorist attack on an Orthodox church was prevented by FSB officers in Adygea, the Russian FSB Public Relations Center reported on July 11. The terrorist attack was plotted by a member of a terrorist organization banned in Russia, a native of Central Asia , who planned the murder of priests, and also intended to set fire to the temple building. To implement his plans, he produced improvised explosive devices.
“The terrorist was preparing an attack on a religious institution (Orthodox church) in the city of Maykop and the murder of its clergy and security guards with further arson of the building. He conducted reconnaissance of the area, drew up an attack plan, acquired the necessary components and made improvised explosive devices,” the Public Relations Center said in a statement.
The FSB believes that the detainee intended to film his actions and publish them online for propaganda purposes.
