The Chairman of the NAC urged not to confuse believers and radicals
Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Committee Kirill Kabanov stated that there was no such thing as “radical Islam”. He reminded that Islam was a world religion, like Christianity or many others. But the concept of “radical Islamism” is an extremist ideology that justifies terrorism.
“The extremist ideology of international terrorism, which is based on the principle of dividing people into friends and foes and cultural and dividing civilizational approaches into right and wrong. And this is done in an absolutely aggressive form,” said the NAC chairman.
Kabanov noted that radicals and extremists are trying with all their might to prove their exclusivity and superiority over others. Besides, it is absolutely normal to physically destroy “infidels” and demonstrate their superiority over everyone who does not belong to their “faith” in their value system. Kabanov noted that this was very similar to Nazi ideology.
“That is why in no case should a believer be mixed up and confused (there should be no harm from any faith) with an aggressive radical extremist, who is ready for violence, first of all, against innocent people just because they are not share his savage views,” summed up the chairman of the NAC.
Kirill Kabanov called for reconsidering Russia’s approach to combating radicalism and extremism, taking into account current realities and threats.
