Pakistani security forces eliminated four terrorists in an operation in Tank district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said.

The security forces carried out a joint intelligence-based operation following reports of the presence of terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army's media wing, said in a statement late on Saturday.

The operation resulted in an intense gunfight leaving four terrorists were killed, according to ISPR. They were involved in heinous acts in the country.

"Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the eliminated terrorists, who were actively involved in multiple terrorist attacks against security forces and in abductions and targeted killings of innocent civilians," the military said.

The military said a sweeping operation was underway to eliminate all terrorists present in the area. "Pakistan's security forces are determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country," the statement said.
