In the Karachay-Cherkess Republic of Russia, a court decided to take into custody a 25-year-old K., a native of Bashkiria. The person is suspected of attempting to blow up the prosecutor's office building in Cherkessk, Lenta.ru reports with reference to the court's press service.

The man is accused of participating in the activities of an organization designated as terrorist in Russia (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as preparing to commit a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He will be under arrest until at least October 2. 

According to the investigation materials, an unknown person offered this person, a native of Bashkiria, to join the activities of a terrorist organization via the Telegram messenger. K. agreed. Then, by prior agreement with this person, K. arrived in Cherkessk, where he purchased everything necessary to make an improvised explosive device (IED).

According to the investigation, the target of the terrorist attack was the city prosecutor's office building. However, the perpetrators failed to carry out their plan.

During the arrest, two kilograms of explosives were found and seized from the man.
