An explosion at a checkpoint in the northern Syrian city of Azaz left nine people dead and injured 14, the Turkish television channel NTV reports.

"A car bomb exploded at a checkpoint in Azaz, killing nine people and injuring 14," the channel reports.

According to the media, security measures have been stepped up in the city, which is controlled by pro-Turkish militants, following the explosion. The wounded have been hospitalized. None of the groups operating in the region have claimed responsibility for the explosion.
