The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has charged former Mayor of Kizilyurt and former head of the Ministry of Sports of Dagestan Magomed Magomedov with aiding terrorism and murder. Earlier, Magomedov was arrested for embezzlement. This was reported on Monday, August 12, by TASS.

- Magomed Magomedov, accused under Part 2 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Aiding Terrorist Activity Using Official Position), Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Murder of Two or More Persons in a Manner Dangerous for Public by a Group of Persons), Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Embezzlement or Misappropriation on a Large Scale), was brought to court, - the media quotes words of Basmanny Court Judge Boris Safarin.

  

It is specified that the former head of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Reserve Training of the Ministry of Sports of Dagestan, Khalitbeg Makhachev, is also involved in the same case, accused of embezzlement, TASS writes.

Magomed Magomedov faces life imprisonment, since a new criminal case has been opened against him for aiding terrorism. This is the reason why he tried to commit suicide in the Matrosskaya Tishina pretrial detention center, the media believe.

Magomedov tried to commit suicide on the night of July 19-20. The next morning, he was found by the security of Matrosskaya Tishina. Magomedov was barely alive. He was hospitalized at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute. Doctors assessed his condition as moderate. On October 3, 2023, the police detained the official on suspicion of a large scale fraud.
