The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a knife attack in the German city of Solingen that killed three people and injured eight more, RIA Novosti reports. 

Police have detained a teenager who may be connected to the attack, but the perpetrator himself still has not been arrested. In a statement on its Telegram channel, the extremist group described the attacker as “a soldier who carried out the attack in revenge for Muslims in Palestine and elsewhere.”
