Terrorist accomplices preparing attacks on churches detained in Ingushetia

The Russian FSB reported that it had prevented a series of attacks on law enforcement officers and a church in Ingushetia and detained six local residents.

It was reported that six local residents, citizens of the Russian Federation and adherents of a foreign terrorist organization banned in Russia, were detained in Nazran and the village of Kantyshevo.

They intended to commit sabotage and terrorist attacks against staff members of the local law enforcement agencies, as well as religious sites, the intelligence service's Public Relations Center (PRC) said on Wednesday.

In particular, the detainees, according to the FSB, “were preparing an attack on the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God in the city of Sunzha.”

An improvised explosive device, components for its production, firearms and cold weapons, symbols of a terrorist organization, and electronic storage devices “containing instructions on how to conduct combat operations” were found at the living quarters of the detainees and in the hideout they had prepared.

“The detainees confessed,” the PRC noted.
