USA STARTS CONSTRUCTION OF DETENTION CENTER IN SYRIA
The United States are building a detention center for imprisoned members of terrorist groups and their families in Syria. This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland.
She noted that this object will be under the control of the Kurdish “Forces of Democratic Syria” (SDF), writes TASS. U.S. authorities are now working to motivate other countries to repatriate, rehabilitate, reintegrate and, if necessary, prosecute their citizens who have been linked to terrorism, Nuland said.
“Under this approach, our Department of Defense is working on the construction of a new multi-purpose center that will be managed by the SDF for the purpose of safe and more humane detention of prisoners,” the politician said at a meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to countering terrorism.
Nuland also expressed grave concerns of Washington about the situation with the detention of terrorists in Syria and noted that Daesh (a terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation) “will try to take advantage of the instability in the region” and attempt to release the prisoners.
