A SOCHI RESIDENT SENTENCED IN ROSTOV FOR FINANCING TERRORISM

The Southern District Military Court found a resident of Sochi guilty of aiding terrorist activities, the press service of the court reports.

At the end of December 2012, the person involved in the criminal case met a man via the Internet who told him about raising money for the needs of the foreign terrorist organization called “Caucasus Emirate” and banned in Russia. The defendant agreed to support them. On February 2, 2013, the defendant went to a mobile phone shop and provided an electronic payment in the amount of 1,500 rubles for the members of the terrorist organization.

He was sentenced to imprisonment for five and a half years that will be served in a colony of general type.
